Bizou ramps up Ontario expansion with plans for a new boutique at Oshawa Centre

August 12, 2016

Montreal’s Bizou is making good on its plans to expand into Ontario, having signed an exciting deal to open at Oshawa Centre.
The 750 sq. ft. boutique will open December 1st, just in time for holiday shoppers to gift the company’s evolving collections of stainless steel and silver ladies fashion jewellery and accessories.
Oshawa Centre, which is owned and managed by Ivanhoe Cambridge, is a two-story shopping centre in the city of Oshawa, about 30 minutes east of Toronto. It comprises 1,040,369 sq. ft. of retail and is home to more than 230 stores and services. It is just wrapping up a $230 million renovation and Bizou will be in good company amongst a strong lineup of fashion cotenants, including a number of new retailers to open when the renovation is complete next month—Adidas, Bikini Village, Forever 21, Hot Topic, Geox, La Vie en Rose, WKLN and more.
It’s been a busy time for Bizou, which has flourished since retail veteran Marcel Labrecque opened the first boutique in 1984. Today the company has an international network of 128 stores and counting.
Earlier this year, Bizou opened at Galeries d’Anjou in Montreal and Galeries de la Capitale in Quebec City. More international openings are pending—details will be announced soon.
Moving forward, the company’s expansion strategy focuses on regional malls in Ontario (as well as more openings on the international front). Ideal spaces in Canada are 500 to 850 sq. ft. in regional and super regional shopping centres, with strong co-tenants, such as, but not limited to, H&M, Zara, Sephora, Banana Republic, Fossil and Victoria’s Secret.
Bizou itself is an ideal fashion co-tenant with a modern retail experience. The company stands apart in the world of ladies fashion jewellery and accessories with a team of in-house designers, who travel the world for inspiration when creating the Bizou’s unique trend-setting collections.
We at Think Retail have worked with Bizou for nearly two decades and we are thrilled to watch this great Canadian brand go from height to height, both in Canada and on the international stage. For more information, visit or contact the Think Retail Team.
